Supporting Swing Nation!

We had several swings go on during this production, including a couple of mid-show swing ons. I took lead on facilitating these changes mid-show, communicating with our PSM, our A2s, and our Wardrobe Supervisor to make sure our swings were dressed, mic-ed, and knew where and when they were joining the performance. The stage managers and I also created actor tracks that we'd share with our swings that detail entrances, exits, costume changes, prop handoffs, and scenery moves of each of the tracks they covered.

Costume Tracking

I worked very closely with our costume designers to track all of the costuming elements for our onstage cast of 32: all the different costumes, changes, and the timings of our quick changes. This included a sequence where we had nearly the entire cast changing at once, with 11 of those changes being categorized as "quick changes." I created an entrance/exit sheet, a portion of which I've highlighted below, and kept it updated with help from my SM team to help us visualize this info. We also made sure to keep this updated document posted around our rehearsal room to help our cast learn what their costume tracks would look like.

During rehearsals, I worked with the SM team to "make it real" for the cast on stage. We pulled together acting blocks, clothing racks, safety maps, moving carts and repurposed them to mimic the spacing and functionality of our set pieces. Using some gaff tape and some creativity,  we were able to help our cast, director, and choreographer visualize the world we were playing in.
