Joining an Established Community
Working with FAU's Department of Theatre and Dance as a guest stage manager on this production gave me the experience of leading a project in a repertory-style setting I'd never worked in before. Coming into the project, I wasn't familiar with the nuances of their company, the dynamics between artists, or the structure of their rehearsal process, but instead learned and adapted to these things throughout our process. It was an exciting puzzle to figure out, as opposed to entering a new company as a PA or ASM and learning under another stage manager.

Dancer First
As an educational institution, FAU's Department of Theatre and Dance liked to push their students as artists to try and work on new skills. Our cast was compiled of many actors who weren't as comfortable in their dance as A Chorus Line, which was a great challenge for their education but also spurred frustrations throughout our process. I worked very closely with our choreographer and dance captain during dance rehearsals and brush ups after we opened, determining what the cast needed and how to best support them as they worked through these uncertainties to really bring their all on stage.
